Overview

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Purchasing Controller to join a well-established, manufacturer based in Newport, South Wales.

You can expect to achieve a salary of up to £31,000 working Monday-Friday 08:00-16:45 with an early finish of 12:00 every Friday.

 

The Role

Reporting into the Group Purchasing Manager, The Purchasing Controller will be directly involved in the sourcing and purchasing of products and services to achieve a £250,000 cost saving.

Duties will include:

  • You will be involved in sourcing suppliers, contract drafting, negotiation and managing suppliers through the whole procurement process.
  • Administration of all purchasing areas within SAP
  • Creation of purchase orders and schedules within SAP
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Keep contract files and use them as reference for the future
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to interact unsupervised with clients, suppliers & internal stakeholders
  • Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met - or exceeded
  • Undertake value for money reviews of existing contracts and arrangements
  • Ensure the security and sustainability of sources of essential products and services
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
  • Provide presentations about market analysis and possible growth
  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy
  • Analyse data and produce reports and statistics on spending and saving
  • Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
  • Attend meetings and trade conferences
  • Keep up to date with trends and innovations, regulation and new technology that can impact on the business

 

The Person

  • Either a Purchasing or supply chain procurement
  • Proven experience at senior level, preferably in the automotive environment.
  • Computer literate with good ability in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding SAP
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels including presentation skills, active listening etc
  • Be dedicated and self-directed
  • Ability to teach and influence others
  • Possess a positive customer service attitude
  • Ability to interpret and understand complicated legislation and processes
